This one hits close to home for me. I named it 1 in 99 after the parable of the lost sheep — you know, the story where the shepherd has 100 sheep, one wanders off, and instead of staying with the 99 safe ones, he goes looking for that single lost one until he finds it. Then he carries it home on his shoulders, rejoicing.

That lost sheep? That was me. For a long time, I felt far away, wandering in places I never thought I’d end up, feeling like I’d messed up too much to matter. But Jesus didn’t wait for me to find my way back. He came looking — for me, just one out of 99. And when He found me, He didn’t scold or turn away. He picked me up, held me close, and brought me home with so much love and joy it still makes my eyes well up thinking about it.

In the painting, I tried to capture that moment — the gentle strength of the Shepherd, the relief of being found, the quiet miracle of being wanted even when I felt worthless. It’s not fancy or dramatic; it’s just real. A reminder that no matter how far we’ve strayed, we’re never too lost for Him to leave everything else and come get us.

If you’ve ever felt like the one who got away, or like you’re not worth the search, this piece is for you too. Because He really does leave the 99 for the 1. And when He finds you, the celebration in heaven is bigger than anything we can imagine.
