Revelations 5:5

The Lion of Judah with Jesus

Strength and perseverance.

This painting is really special to me. I called it Revelation 5:5 because it’s all about Jesus being both the mighty Lion of Judah and the One who loves us so deeply He wore that crown of thorns for us.

On one side you’ve got this strong, beautiful lion — head held high, mane flowing, eyes full of courage and pride. That’s the Lion who conquered everything, the King who never backs down. Right next to him (really, part of him) is Jesus — those kind, steady eyes looking right at you, even through the pain of the thorns and the weight He carried.

I wanted them to feel like they belong together, because they do. The same Jesus who roars in victory is the One who quietly took every hurt so we wouldn’t have to face it alone. Strength and gentleness, power and tenderness — all wrapped up in Him.

When I painted this, I kept thinking: He’s not just fierce and far away. He’s right here, standing proud beside us, fighting for us, and at the same time holding us close like we’re the most precious thing in the world.

It makes my heart full to look at it. I hope when you see it, you feel a little of that same wonder and comfort — that the Lion who won it all is also the Savior who knows your name and loves you more than words can say.

Thanks for letting me share this piece of my heart.

“And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.””
