Joshua 1:9
The Lion of Judah with 3 crosses.
After painting the Lion of Judah in black and white I had a deep urgency to experiment with color. I had never painted anything in color that I can say I was proud of. Creating depth with color was hard for me.
Even in my younger years I always stuck with black and white compositions. But God had other plans for me and color was part of it. As I added the Burnt Sienna, the crimsons and the golds to my palette I let my guard down and just let the paint flow trusting that God would lead me in the right direction. He did not disappoint me!
Learning to listen to God has been a journey for me. I come from a strong line of stubborn determined Irish women. Up until the moment I found Jesus I spent my life in control of EVERYTHING! My stubbornness wanted it my way or the highway. This caused me a life full of anxiousness and hurt as my need for control overpowered what I truly needed which was peace and love. This painting embeds in me that I can have strength courage like the lion yet I can surrender my need for control to Jesus. Through that surrender I have found a peace I never knew existed.
This painting reminds me that we should always trust in Gods word and he will lead you to greatness.
